Problems with excessive sweating. Perspiration and sweat smell

Share:
Content
The function of sweating is to regulate body temperature because, as it evaporates on the skin, the skin cools. The sweat is made of water and mineral salts, plus a set of various substances, some of which may be odorous.

Sweating becomes a problem (hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating) when the sweat glands responsible for producing perspiration generate it in a greater amount than necessary to regulate the body temperature, regardless of the room temperature or the person’s mood or state.

The treatment of this problem depends on its severity. In milder cases it may be enough to use any antiperspirant products sold without prescription in pharmacies; in more severe cases even surgery may be needed.

In any case, you can follow some minimum suggestions to solve the problem of excessive sweating, and therefore bad smell:

- Have good hygiene habits, showering frequently, even several times a day.

- Shaving your armpit hair helps reduce the smell.

- Wash your armpits thoroughly with soapy water.

- The food you eat affects the smell of your sweat; you should therefore avoid excessive consumption of alcohol, coffee, hot or spicy foods, onions, garlic, etc.

- Avoid clothing made of synthetic fabrics; it is better to resort to cotton.

- Loose and porous clothes allow excess sweat to evaporate before bacteria proliferate, further increasing the bad smell.

- You should change clothes frequently to prevent smells from accumulating in the fabric.

Migraine symptoms. Can migraines be cured? How to treat migraines

Share:
Migraine is a chronic disease whose causes are not clearly known, and which is characterized by a severe headache capable of disabling the person who suffers it.
Some of its symptoms include throbbing pain, pain in only one side of the head, nausea and vomiting, worsening of the state with physical activity, photophobia (intolerance to light), or phonophobia (intolerance to sounds). Its duration ranges from several hours to several days.

Assuming that it is a chronic disease, once the symptoms appear you can try to relieve them as much as possible:

- Remain at rest, even lying down, in a quiet, dimly lit place.

- Resort to the use of a compress or wet cloth on your forehead or in the area of the base of the skull.

- You should drink water to avoid dehydration, especially if vomiting occurs. If nausea prevents you from eating all day, drinking sugary water can help.

- Take baths, or showers, with warm water.

- Take painkillers such as paracetamol. If attacks are frequent you should consult your physician to know what the most suitable product would be.

Several studies suggest that aerobic exercise outdoors helps prevent migraines, or at least reduce their incidence.
